Our Hope

Why Mobile Home Parks? Why Now?

Mobile Home Communities (MHCs) provide a significant source of market-rate affordable housing and help preserve community diversity in many categories, including race, ethnicity, age and familial status. MHCs are affordable for older adults to age in place and when managed well, are little sanctuaries, with a strong sense of community similar to a small village, often with a community clubhouse, a children’s playground, etc. Neighbors tend to be protective of other neighbors, contributing to a safe environment to live and raise a family and offering a sense of security for an aging resident.

MHCs also provide a detached housing option for low-to-moderate-income households, which are underserved by the homeownership market.

What is a Community Development Corporation?

Community development corporations (CDCs) are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations that are created to support and revitalize communities, especially those that are impoverished or struggling. CDCs often deal with the development of affordable housing.

Through our work, we aim to create:

  • Projects that address root problems with substantive solutions

  • Projects with strong evidence of support from the community and the organization’s board

  • Projects in rural and low-income areas across Colorado where there are fewer individuals and institutions providing support for capital projects

  • Projects that serve individuals and communities of color who have faced historic inequities and lack of access to funding
